Briar Woods is a woodland area on Third Earth that is characterized by very thick and dense thorn bush growth. The thorn bushes are so dense that accessing the woods is extremely difficult. And the vegetation is so strong that even mechanical saws have a hard time sawing through them.
Many years ago, a strong wind blew the tiny flower-like beings Petalars from their home in the Garden and carried them to Briar Woods. For many generations, the Petalars tried to locate the Cliffs of Wind which would supposedly blow them back to the Garden. They even had a map that led to the cliffs.
When the ThunderCats took refuge in the Briar Woods, they discovered that the map was in fact fake. However, Slithe and his Lizard army, unable to reach the ThunderCats, set fire to Briar Woods. The fire created an updraft which carried the Petalars out of the woods and hopefully back to the Garden.
