Danny Peary is an American writer, film critic and editor who wrote one episode of ThunderCats and one episode of SilverHawks.

Born in West Virginia, Peary grew up in South Carolina and New Jersey. He earned a B.A. in History from the University of Wisconsin in Madison and an M.A. in Cinema at University of Southern California. He is the brother of film critic, columnist, actor, and documentary filmmaker Gerald Peary.

While studying at USC, he worked as the fine arts and sports editor for L.A. Panorama. His various film criticisms have been published in a variety of publications including Focus on Film, Newsday, The New York Daily News, The Boston Globe, and Soho News among others.

In the mid 1980s, Peary tried his hand at writing for the Rankin/Bass animated shows ThunderCats and SilverHawks. Apart from these two, Peary never wrote for any other carton series.

Peary is well known for his three volume book series "Cult Movies" (1981), "Cult Movies 2" (1983), and "Cult Movies 3" (1989), in which he critically analyzes cult films such as. Night of the Living Dead (1968), Once Upon a Time in the West (1968), Jason and the Argonauts (1963), Eraserhead (1977), and Plan 9 from Outer Space (1959). The three books together contain reviews of over 200 movies, all written by Peary.

Currently Peary mostly concentrates on sports. He has written with and for famous sports personalities like Tim McCarver, Ralph Kiner, Roger Maris, and GIl Hodges, to name a few.
