The Guardian of the Book of Omens is a mystical being that resides in an alternate dimension that is located within the Book of Omens. This sentient spirit has the appearance of an enlarged Eye of Thundera.
The Guardian has immeasurable knowledge about everything relating to the ThunderCats. He will however, share that knowledge only with whoever has the Key of Thundera. Once someone enters the Book of Omens, the Guardian will ask them for the key. Failure to present the key will result in the intruder being incessantly attacked by the fire-breathing Dragon Pillars. Even the Lion-O, the Lord of the ThunderCats is not exempt from this punishment.
Once when New Thundera was on the verge of self-destruction, the ThunderCats consulted the Guardian for a solution. He told them that in order to avert the crisis, special artifacts would have to be presented to specified locations with a fixed time. And at the 24th hour, the Key of Thundera would be required to be presented to the Guardian himself.
Despite encountering a number of obstacles including Mumm-Ra, the ThunderCats were able to complete all the tasks and the planet was saved.
