Javan is the head of the Tiger Clan and the biological father of Tygra. A regal and imposing figure with a kind heart, Javan was faced with a decision that no leader should ever have to make, to choose between his family and his people.
The Tiger Clan, despite being exiled by the other Cats due to their continued loyalty to Mumm-Ra, prospered in their new home, high in the mountains. For many years they lived happily under the leadership of Javan.
However, the clan was afflicted by a mysterious disease which killed many. Javan suggested asking the Lions of Thundera for help but the other council members, not wanting to let go of their pride, forced him to contact the Ancient Spirits of Evil for help instead.
The spirits agreed to help only if Javan sacrificed his newborn son Tygra and even provided him with a blade to do so. Javan could not bring himself to kill his son and so sent him away in a hot air balloon. Greatly angered by this, he Ancient Spirits bound the souls of the Tiger Clan to the living world as cursed, mindless, shape-shifting shadow monsters.
Many years later while in the mountains, Tygra and Lion-O came across the Tiger Clan and meet Javan. Tygra is initially angry at his father for abandoning him and it is only later that he learns the truth.
Wanting to lift the curse, Caspin and some of the other try to kill Tygra but Javan intervenes and fends off the attackers just before the sun sets and all the Tigers, including Javan turn into the shadow monsters. In his mindless state, Javan lunges on his son but Tygra proclaims that he forgives him. This act of humility breaks the curse that was brought on by pride and Javan and his kin are able to pass on to the next life. Tygra then inherits his father's Bolo Whip.
Strengths[]
Javan is a strong fighter, skilled in using both his blade and his whip in combat. He is also the only one among the Tiger Clan who is willing to let go of his pride for the greater good.
Weaknesses[]
As a leader, Javan is bound to follow the choices made by the majority of his clan and council members, even if he knows that it is the wrong decision. Like the rest of the Tiger Clan, his pride his is greatest weakness.

- Javan's name is derived from the Javan tiger, an extinct tiger subspecies that inhabited the Indonesian island of Java until the mid-1970s.
- The Bolo Whip that Javan owns and later gives to Tygra has three red balls attached to its end, similar to the Bolo Whip used by the 1980's incarnation of Tygra.
