- For the article about the 1980's version of this character, see Jackalman.
Kaynar is one of the generals of Mumm-Ra's Lizard Army, recruited after a series of mass desertions of the Lizards brought on by their heavy defeat at the hands of the ThunderCats.
A ruthless and deranged psychopath, Kaynar is a member of the Jackal species who takes great pleasure in committing vile acts.
Kaynar was an inmate in a Dog Prison where he was incarcerated for multiple heinous crimes. After murdering a number of his fellow inmates, he was on his way to being placed in solitary confinement when Slithe and his Lizards broke him out.
Despite his borderline insanity, he ended up becoming an invaluable part of Mumm-Ra's army due to his bloodthirsty nature which made him a dangerous opponent for the ThunderCats.
Strengths[]
Kaynar is a very strong and agile fighter. His complete lack of fear or morals make him a formidable opponent who will not hesitate to attack or kill.
Kaynar also has a very keen sense of smell, which allows him to exactly pinpoint the location of his opponent without even the need to visually see them.
Weaknesses[]
Due to his apparent insanity, Kaynar has very little self control and his actions are purely driven by instincts rather than forethought. As a result, he can be tricked by an intelligent opponent.
Weapons and Equipment[]
Kaynar wields a huge Halberd or Battle Axe and can swing it with great force.

- New Alliances
- Trials of Lion-O, Part 1

Trivia[]
- While never mentioned, it is likely that Kaynar is a descendent of Shen, one of the first Jackals to mount a rebellion against Mumm-Ra with the help of Leo.
- Kaynar's design is very similar to his 1980's counterpart except that here he is more muscular and taller with accentuated features.
- Kaynar is also the name of a village in the Osh Province of Kyrgyzstan.
