King Arthur was a legendary king who ruled during the medieval times. He wielded Excalibur, the most powerful sword ever made. He was a wise and just ruler who brought peace to his kingdom by vanquishing all forms of evil.

Many centuries ago when darkness and evil reigned on Third Earth, the legendary wizard Merlin placed Excalibur in a stone and proclaimed that whoever manages to pull out the sword will be the king. Many men tried but failed, until a young Arthur came and successfully pulled the sword from the stone, thus was born the legend of King Arthur and Excalibur.

Armed with Excalibur, King Arthur defeated many foes and brought justice and calm to his lands. He even defeated the Evil Knight and rescued Guinevere, who would go on to become his queen consort.

When Arthur's reign came to an end, he instructed one of his knights, Sir Bedivere, to return Excalibur to the Lady of the Lake. Sir Bedivere complied and threw the sword to the Lady of the Lake who took it with her underwater, where it rests until called upon again.

When Mumm-Ra learns of Excalibur from the Ancient Spirits of Evil, he takes on the form of King Arthur and retrieves Excalibur in order to use it against the ThunderCats.
