Leo was the ancestor of Claudus and Lion-O and the first Lord of the ThunderCats. He was also the one of first ThunderCats on Third Earth and responsible for forming the empire of Thundera.
A long time ago, when all the animal species were under Mumm-Ra's control, Leo was the commander of Mumm-Ra's army as well as his right hand man. Leo was very loyal to his master and believed that Mumm-Ra was spreading order across the cosmos.
However, when Leo witnessed Mumm-Ra destroying the Sun of the Plun-Darr Galaxy and with it, three life bearing planets just so that he could forge the Sword of Plun-Darr from its remains, his delusion was shattered and he came to see Mumm-Ra for the true evil that he was.
Leo then allied himself with Panthera to overthrow Mumm-Ra. They gather the remaining ore that was left over from the creation of the Sword of Plun-Darr and forge the Sword of Omens and then uniting it with the War Stone. Leo eventually succeeds in defeating Mumm-Ra, thanks to the additional power he gets from the Tech Stone that falls out of Mumm-Ra's Gauntlet of Plun-Darr.
As soon as Mumm-Ra is defeated, a magnetic disturbance between Third Earth and its moon causes the ship to break apart and crash land on Third Earth. The surviving crew members start civilization a new on this planet. It is also decided to divide the power stones among the species as they are too dangerous to stay in the possession of one just one race.
The War Stone, which has since been known as the Eye of Thundera, remains with Leo and the Cats, residing within the hilt of the Sword of Omens as the Eye of Thundera. Since Leo's time, the Sword of Omens and the War Stone have been passed down the each new Lord of the ThunderCats for generations.
Strengths[]
Leo is a skilled warrior with natural cat-like agility. He also show to be a remarkable swordsman during his battle against Mumm-Ra when the latter had the Armor of Plun-Darr and the Spirit and Soul Stone. His years of service as a commander have made him an expert military strategist and tactician.
Weaknesses[]
Like his descendent Lion-O, Leo can be impulsive at times, acting out of anger and emotion before assessing the situation.
Weapons and Equipment[]
Leo was the first ThunderCat to wield the mighty Sword of Omens, which he used to defeat the evil Mumm-Ra. He also had in his possession the Gauntlet of Omens, which when fitted with one of the power stones turned into the powerful Armor of Omens.
