The Lunataks are evil beings from the various Moons of Plun-Darr. They came to Third Earth long before either the ThunderCats or the Mutants. When they tried to take control of the planet, Mumm-Ra encased them in molten lava on Dark Side.
When Mumm-Ra got tired of the Mutants' constant failures to defeat the ThunderCats, he ordered them to release the Lunataks from the molten lava. Immediately after being released, they built a massive floating fortress called Sky-Tomb. They also constructed vehicles like the Luna Tacker and the Ice Runner.
Each member of the Lunataks wear a unifying symbol of a crescent moon on their forehead.
