New Alliances' is an episode from the re-imagined series of ThunderCats. Written by J. M. DeMatteis, it originally aired on March 24, 2012.
Story[]
Riding their band new Hoverboards, WilyKit and WilyKat lure a small squad of Lizard army into an ambush set by the ThunderCats. Together, Lion-O, Tygra and Cheetara destroy the Lizard Cruiser and easily defeat the Lizards. Lion-O then gives the defeated Lizards a choice, either they go back to the battlefield or return home to their families. The Lizards pick the latter and walk away. Tygra questions Lion-O’s decision as well as his optimism of hoping to turn the Lizards good. In the Berbil Village, the Berbils are trying hard to fit Panthro with new mechanical arms.
Inside the Black Pyramid, Mumm-Ra is displeased with the way things are going, especially the mass desertions in the Lizard Army. He orders Slithe to hire two new generals to strengthen his army. The first one is Addicus, a barbaric monkey that Slithe rescues from being executed by the Birds for his crimes against their race. The second is Kaynar, a psychopathic jackal whom Slithe breaks out of a Dog Prison.
Later on Lion-O, Tygra and Cheetara go to rescue the Lizards whom they had previously freed from Slithe who had captured them. The ThunderCat trio have their first run in with Mumm-Ra’s two new generals, Kaynar and Addicus. The two prove to be too powerful for Cheetara and Tygra, easily dispatching them both. With Slithe knocking out Lion-O, things look grim for the Cats until Panthro arrives in the ThunderTank, debuting his new cybernetic arms. He easily defeats all the villains and sends them fleeing.

- This episode marks the debut of Kaynar and Addicus, the 2011 versions of Jackalman and Monkian respectively.
- Kaynar ties up Tygra with his own whip, a tactic used against the 1980s version of the ThunderCat in many episodes of the original series.
- This episode also marks the debut of the ThunderKittens' Hoverboards, which in the 1980s version of the show were called Spaceboards.
Notable Quotes[]
Tygra: You still haven't given up the idea that you can turn the Lizards good just by cutting them a break.
Mumm-Ra: I'm not asking for loyalty. I want warriors who fight not for treasure but for blood.
Slithe: A lizard army will never listen to a Monkian and Jackalman.
Kaynar: At least I'll have the voices in my head to talk to.
Tygra: Whether they're deserters or prisoners, they're not our problem anymore.
