Nishida was an ancient samurai and a great uncle of Hachiman. While trying to trick Hachiman into fighting against Lion-O, Mumm-Ra conjures up a fake image of Nishida in his cauldron, and then proceeds to tell Hachiman that Lion-O has imprisoned the spirit of his great uncle. The vile mummy goes on to say that the only way to free Nishida is by killing Lion-O.
Hachiman initially believes Mumm-Ra's lies and attacks Lion-O while the latter is trying to cross Fire Rock Mountain to rescue Lynx-O, Bengali, and Pumyra. However, upon seeing Lion-O's selflessness and his willingness to even sacrifice himself in order to help his friends, Hachiman realizes that he was lied to by Mumm-Ra.

- Nishida is named after Minoru Nishida, one of the animators at Pacific Animation Corporation (PAC) who worked on the ThunderCats cartoon.
