The Sand Sea is a massive ocean-like desert on Third Earth. Instead of water, it is filled with sand that flows and ebbs just like water. The giant aquatic monster Ramlak lives in the Sand Sea.
Somewhere in the middle of the Sand Sea was the Oasis, a watery paradise home of the Fishmen. One day, the Ramlak drank up all the water of the Oasis, leaving the Fishmen homeless. Vowing revenge on the beast, Captain Koinelius Tunar and his crew of Fishmen sailed the Sand Seas in search for the Ramlak. Despite running into the beast on a number of occasions, Tunar and crew were unable to defeat it.
While searching for Mumm-Ra, the ThunderCats come upon the Sand Sea and get caught by the Fishmen in a trap that they had set for the Ramlak. Eventually, the ThunderCats become friends with the Fishmen, and assist them in defeating the Ramlak and restoring their Oasis home.
Trivia[]
- The Sand Sea was most likely inspired by the Desert of Sinking Sands, which appeared in the original ThunderCats series. Both locations were deserts that had odd-behaving sand and were situated near Mumm-Ra's Black Pyramid.
