The Shadowbat is a magical creature that was conjured by the Shadowmaster. It has brown skin, glowing red eyes, and a bat-like appearance. Since he is stuck in the Shadow Realm, the Shadowmaster uses the Shadowbat as a way to communicate with beings on the outside.
During a lunar eclipse of the Dark Moon of Plun-Darr, the Shadowmaster was able to open a portal from the Shadow Realm and send the Shadowbat to the Ancient Spirits of Evil with his message. He offered to defeat the ThunderCats if in return they would free him from the realm. Later on, he used the Shadowbat to steal the Sword of Omens, breaking its connection with the Book of Omens so that Lion-O may remain trapped in the Shadow Realm forever.
The Shadowbat was eventually defeated by Ma-Mutt in the form of Ma-Bat.
