Shen was the leader of the Jackals in ancient times when all the animals were Mumm-Ra's slaves on board his Black Pyramid spaceship.
When Leo and Panthera finally decide to overthrow Mumm-Ra, they employed the help of the other animal species that were enslaved by Mumm-Ra.
The two Cats approached Shen and Rezard for help and while they initially did not trust the Cats, they eventually agreed to rally their people against Mumm-Ra after the Cats came into possession of the War Stone.
