The adventure begins with the Thunderkittens coming across a poor Wollo being attacked by Gargoyles. Wilykat appears to have been knocked unconscious until he reveals it was a practical joke, angering his sister. The Wollo, Kronus, reveals that he isn’t as poor as he appears and was only pretending as he was carrying his daughter’s wedding gift. He was hoping to avoid the attention of Robber Baron Karnor. The Thunderkittens decide to investigate Karnor’s Black Tower but when they separate, Wilykat disappears.
The Sword of Omens alerts Lion-O who soon arrives on the scene. As he tries to force the door, he and Wilykit both plunge through a trap door. They are able to call to Wilykat who is far up at the top of the tower. Iron bars soon crash down from the ceiling and separate Lion-O and Wilkit, forcing them to go through different doors. Lion-O enters a large room and is soon attacked by an enormous creature with arms like an octopus with crab-like pincers on the ends. He barely escapes and wonders how Wilykit is faring alone. Finding herself in a dark corridor, the young Thunderkitten removes a torch from the wall, triggering a huge boulder which rolls menacingly towards her...
