Tygus is an ancient member of the Cats race and ancestor of the Tigers who served in Mumm-Ra's army.
Unquestioningly loyal to Mumm-Ra, Tygus served as a captain of Mumm-Ra's army at the same time when Leo was its commander. He would obey his master's every command, even if it meant wiping out entire races of beings.
Mumm-Ra assigns Tygus with the task of retrieving the War Stone from a Red Alien Planet. Tygus and his army launched a strong assault on the planet, killing many of its warriors and taking the War Stone.
When Tygus went to deliver the prized relic to his master on the Black Pyramid, he was instead intercepted by Leo who took the stone and inserted into the Sword of Omens, creating a rival blade to the Sword of Plun-Darr and using it to lead a rebellion to overthrow Mumm-Ra.
It is likely that Tygus and his fellow Tigers eventually settled on Third Earth and prospered there. However, their continued allegiance to Mumm-Ra forced the other Cats to exile them to the mountains where after prospering for many generations, the Tiger Clan was inflicted with a plague that eventually wiped out their entire race except for Tygra who was sent away by his father Javan in a hot air balloon when he was just a baby.

Tygus is a fierce warrior, an expert marksman and ace pilot, making him a great fighter in combat. He is also highly skilled in military tactics and strategy, skill that resulted in him being made the captain of Mumm-Ra's army
Weaknesses[]
Tygus' weakness is his stubborn pride and his steadfast loyalty to the evil Mumm-Ra. Choosing to follow his master's every command without ever thinking for himself. It is this loyalty and pride which was passed on to his descendents and which eventually led to the Tiger Clan suffering a terrible fate.

- As Tygus was one of the first members of the Tiger Clan to settle on Third Earth, it is likely that he may be the direct ancestor of some of their members such as Javan or Caspin.
