Viragor is a massive wise bird that lives on Third Earth.
This magnificent avian with an owl-like face and bat wing like ears has been the protector of the Forest of Magi Oar for centuries which also happens to be his home.
Long ago, Zig and his team of Wood Forgers had come to the forest and Viragor allowed them to stay in his forest and even help him in protecting it. The Wood Forgers were masters of paper magic and obtained the wood that they needed to make paper for fallen and dead trees. Over time, the lust for power overcame Zig and his fellow Wood Forgers and they started cutting living healthy trees to meet their increased demand for paper. This resulted in bitter enmity between the Wood Forgers and Viragor whose forest they were destroying. The two clashed frequently but Viragor was unsuccessful in driving Zig and his followers out of the forest.
When the ThunderCats arrive in the Forest of Magi Oar, they are greeted by Zig who twists the truth and tells that Viragor is an evil bird who has been tormenting them. Later when Lion-O fought Viragor and the Sword of Omens refuses to obey him, he realizes that Viragor is not evil.
Later when the magnificent bird tells Lion-O the truth, he rallies the ThunderCats who defeat the Wood Forgers and drive them out of the Forest of Magi Oar. Viragor then takes over as the Headmaster of the established School of Paper Arts, a post previously held by Zig.
Before the ThunderCats leave, Viragor thanks them for their help and gifts Cheetara with a new Staff made from the oldest tree in the forest to replace the one that was broken during he battle with him.
Viragor is massive in size, able to fit a full grown man in his beak. He is armed with powerful talons and a very strong beak which is lined with sharp teeth. He is so strong that he can push entire buildings down to the ground.
Viragor can also creates powerful gusts of wind using his enormous wings. His wings allow him to fly at incredibly fast speeds as well.
Due to his massive size, Viragor carries a lot of momentum when traveling at high speeds. As a result it can be difficult for him to stop or make sharp turns. An opponent can use this against him and avoid his swooping attacks.
- Viragor is somewhat similar in appearance to the Great Owl from the "Secret of NIMH".
